On Thursday, in light of my New Year’s resolution to be spontaneous, I signed up for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Regional Conference in Miami the following day.

The conference was amazing! It gave everyone the opportunity to meet writers, illustrators, editors, and agents that were all so eager to share their stories and impart valuable information over the span of the weekend.

Not only did I learn a lot but I also picked up a couple of autographed hardcover picture books that I’m giving away to a lucky reader!

Well, actually, just one book because I had a momentary lapse of judgment when the amazing Debbie Ohi asked me who I wanted the book,Β I’m Bored, written by Michael Black and illustrated by her, autographed for. β€œUm. My kids. Serena and Isabella…because they often say they’re bored.”

What? Really?

Yes, I did say that and Debbie drew the cutest illustration for them, which they of course were like, β€œYou bought us a picture book?”

I seriously had every intention of getting a signed copy that I could give away so I sincerely apologize. I will be more than happy to give it to any one who has a child/grandchild/niece/cousin/friend named Serena or Isabella; or anyone who just doesn’t care and would like a free, autographed copy of a really cute book about a very bored little girl who, after encountering a potato, discovers she’s not that bored after all.

The second autographed (thankfully not to my kids) book is Me Want Pet! by the equally amazing Tammi Sauer. It’s a cute story about a little cave boy in search for the perfect pet. You’ll love it and so will your kids!
